Our Career Pilot Program sets you on a path to a successful career in aviation. Throughout the program, you’ll stop at several checkpoints while gaining training and experience. The path to becoming a pilot includes:
- Private Pilot License (PPL)

- Certified Flight Instructor: Instrument

How to Become a Commercial Pilot
The path to becoming a commercial pilot doesn’t have to be complicated when you choose Kilo Charlie Aviation. The first step to becoming a commercial pilot is obtaining your commercial pilot certificate. This certificate allows you to earn money as a pilot, whether you’re transporting people or cargo.
Commercial Pilot Requirements
Before you begin training to become a commercial pilot, you’ll need to meet some basic requirements: Must be 17 years old, pass FAA medical exam–minimum 3rd class, able to speak, read, and understand English, and have an Instrument rating Although the Instrument rating is not a technical requirement to obtain your certificate, it’s challenging to become a commercial pilot without this rating.
How to Become an Airline Pilot
If you decide to pursue the path of becoming an airline pilot, Kilo Charlie Aviation can help you take the next step. After becoming certified as a commercial pilot, you’ll need your ATP certification or Airline Transport Pilot Certification. Meaning you’re eligible to work for a commercial airline. This is also the highest level you can achieve in your pilot certification.
CFI Requirements for Aspiring Instructors
One aspect of a fulfilling aviation career is teaching others the skills necessary to become a pilot. Teaching flight courses requires a Certified Flight Instructor certification, which you can obtain through our CFI Academy.
The requirements to become a Certified Flight Instructor include:
- Must be 18 years old
- Possess a Private Pilot’s License
- Possess Instrument Rating Certification
- Possess a Commercial Pilot License
- Have logged 250 hours of flight time
