airshare Hangar Tour

This past month, we had the pleasure of visiting Airshares Hangar at the Charles B. Wheeler Airport (MKC) in Kansas City.

Our visit began with a presentation from their Chief Pilot, Quinn Hamon, who shared insights into his experience as a Private Jet Pilot and the daily responsibilities that come with it.

Following the presentation and hangar tour, we were given an exclusive tour of their Challenger 3500!

Here at Kilo Charlie our goal is not only to make you a well seasoned pilot but help you figure out your career goals once your training is finished. Through partnerships with companies like Airshare, we can put on these events to help provide our students with the opportunities and tools needed to investigate the different avenues of careers you can pursue in aviation because there’s such an array.

Instructor Highlight: Sarah Deaton

Sarah is one of our Certified Flight Training Instructors and a member of the Greater Kansas City Chapter of the Ninety-Nines.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Ninety-Nines, it is an International Organization of Women Pilots that provides networking, mentoring, and flight scholarship opportunities to recreational and professional female pilots.

“Did you know that only 6% of the pilot population in the U.S are women?”

The underrepresentation of female pilots in the U.S. motivated Sarah to join an organization that would connect her with other female aviators both locally and nationally.

As a member of the Greater Kansas City Chapter, Sarah will engage in community outreach and mentorship programs. Recently, Sarah and fellow members visited Sunflower Elementary to promote aviation among children. They shared their pilot experience, discussed the aviation industry, and read a children’s book on Amelia Earhart. As a committed member of the organization, Sarah hopes to inspire more women to pursue a career in aviation and contribute to the industry’s growth.

“It makes me feel apart of something bigger, and it’s fun to plant that seed to younger women that anything they want to do, like becoming a pilot, is possible.” -Sarah Deaton

Novembers’s Student of the month

Taylor Kelly (T.K.)

T.K. is apart of our pilot career program and started his training in April. Since then, he has shown exceptional dedication and hard work, which has earned him this well-deserved honor. The commitment throughout his entire training, not just during the past month, is truly commendable.

T.K. is now preparing to take his Instrument Checkride this upcoming Sunday, and we have no doubt in his ability to excel. His enthusiasm for learning and his passion for aviation are truly inspiring and have made him an outstanding member of our community.

Congratulations, T.K! We are thrilled to have you as part of our program and cannot wait to see all the great things you will achieve in the future.
